Run-time error 339 and Run-time error 7 00000088

Component "xxxxxxxx.ocx" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. or Component "xxxxxxxx.dll" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Try logging on to the console of the machine as an administrator and running the application that's failing. If it launches successfully then the installation/registration of the application's components should then be complete and users should be able to open the application.

If the machine is running a Vista or later operating system then you'll need to right-click on the menu item or shortcut and choose the "Run as Administrator" option to finish the installation/registration of the program.

If those steps don't resolve the error then make sure the correct .ocx or .dll is registered and that users have at least read access to the file and/or its registry key.

Remember, there could be more than one version of the component on the machine so you want to make sure the one that's registered is the version that MaxRecall needs. To find out where the component is registered run regedit then search the registry for the missing component. Compare the properties of the registered file to the properties of the file in the MaxRecall\programs directory.

If necessary you can also try registering the file in the MaxRecall\programs directory either by running regsvr32 from the command prompt or by running MaxRecall\programs\regum.bat. You'll want to edit regum.bat first though to make sure the missing component is listed.

You can un-register an invalid file by running regsvr32 \u) from the command prompt: filepath>regsvr32 [filename] \u).

Try running the MaxRecall Programs Update with the full re-install option checked - on Vista or later make sure to right-click on Programs Update and choose the option to "run as administrator".

If you have tried running the program with escalation and registering the specific file following the steps above and you're still getting the error then see Solution 112, "To register DLLs, OCXs and EXEs", for more ways to register a file.

This article might also apply to Runtime Error 7, out of memory.
